🥗From Salad Skeptic to Sweetgreen Fan
My first experience with Sweetgreen was years ago in Georgetown. It was good—but if I’m being honest, I’ve always preferred cooked meals. Even as a longtime vegetarian, the idea of eating a salad as a full meal just wasn’t my thing back then.
But life has a way of shifting your priorities.
When my health required me to embrace a more anti-inflammatory lifestyle, I had to lean into more greens, more whole foods, and more intention around what I was eating.
And that’s when Sweetgreen became something unexpected…
👉🏾 an oasis in a sea of unhealthy fast food.

✨The Glow-Up Is Real
When I rediscovered Sweetgreen on the West Coast, I realized something:
They had leveled ALL the way up.
This wasn’t just basic salads anymore. These were chef-driven, flavor-packed, nutrient-dense bowls that actually satisfied you.
One of my absolute favorites?
🔥Korean BBQ-Inspired Bowl (Limited Edition)
This collaboration with COTE Korean Steakhouse was unforgettable.

Think:
- Roasted sweet potatoes
- Roasted broccoli
- Cucumber kimchi
- Pickled cabbage
- Apple kimchi sauce
- Crispy fried onions
- Fresh greens
And of course, I made it my own:
✔ Added mushrooms + chickpeas (protein)
✔ Added avocado (because balance 😉)

Was it $20? Yes.
Did I care? Not even a little.
Because if I’m spending that on fast food…
👉🏾 it’s going to nourish me.
🍂Build-Your-Own Bowl = Game Changer
On a later visit, I created a fall-inspired bowl that checked every box:

Base: quinoa + wild rice
Greens: spinach, kale, field greens
Toppings:
- Roasted sweet potatoes
- Roasted broccoli
- Brussels sprouts
- Portobello mushrooms
- Chickpeas
- Avocado
- Pickled red onions
Dressings: honey mustard + balsamic (with a side of cashew sauce)

✨ The result?
A perfectly balanced bowl with:
- Protein
- Fiber
- Healthy fats
- Flavor AND satisfaction
And that’s what I love most—you can:
✔ Choose chef-curated bowls
✔ OR build something completely your own
Because sometimes… the best bowl is the one you create.

🌿Why Sweetgreen Works for an Anti-Inflammatory Lifestyle
Let’s talk about why Sweetgreen fits so well into a hormone-balancing, anti-inflammatory lifestyle:
🥬 Fresh, Whole Ingredients
Everything is made from scratch using produce delivered that morning.
🌱 Plant-Forward Options
Even though it’s not fully vegan, it’s incredibly easy to eat plant-based here.
🫒 Healthy Fats & Clean Cooking
They use olive oil and avocado oil—key for reducing inflammation.

🧠 Nutrient-Dense Meals
Balanced with:
- Fiber
- Protein
- Healthy fats
🌍 Mission-Driven
Their focus on sustainability and sourcing aligns with conscious eating.
🍟Let’s Talk About the Fries (Because Yes… It Matters)
Now let’s address the real question…
Can you eat anti-inflammatory AND still enjoy fries?
At Sweetgreen, the answer was YES.
They introduced air-fried Ripple Fries made with:
- Russet potatoes
- Avocado oil
- Minimal ingredients
These weren’t your typical deep-fried, inflammatory fries.
They were lighter, cleaner… and still satisfying.
✨ Served with sauces like:
- Pickle ketchup
- Garlic aioli
Unfortunately, they’ve been discontinued (I know… tragic 😩).
But listen—
If you love fries and wellness, we might need to start a petition to bring them back.
🌎A New Kind of Fast Food
Founded in 2007 by three college students in Washington DC, Sweetgreen was built on a simple idea:
👉🏾 Fast food should be both convenient AND healthy
Their philosophy:
- Real food
- Transparent sourcing
- Seasonal ingredients
- No artificial additives
And with locations across the U.S.—from California to Texas—they’ve made healthy eating more accessible than ever.
💭Final Thoughts
If you’re:
- Transitioning to plant-based
- Focused on reducing inflammation
- Or just trying to eat better without sacrificing flavor
👉🏾 Sweetgreen is a solid go-to.
Because this journey isn’t about restriction.
It’s about finding ways to:
✨ Nourish your body
✨ Enjoy your food
✨ And still live your life
Even if that includes a side of fries 🍟
