Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside — the healthy way to satisfy your fry craving!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs potatoes (red, Yukon Gold, Russet, or sweet potatoes all work great!)
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Optional: Your favorite dried or fresh herbs — rosemary, thyme, basil, or oregano add extra flavor and antioxidants.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Scrub the potatoes well, leaving the skins on for extra fiber and nutrients.
  3. Cut potatoes into even-sized fries or wedges — whichever you prefer!
  4. Soak in cold water for at least 5 minutes, or up to 1 hour if time allows. This helps remove excess starch for crispier fries.
  5. Drain and pat dry thoroughly with a clean towel.
  6. Toss potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and salt. Add herbs if using.
  7. Spread fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece for even baking.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until fries are golden brown and crisp on the outside but tender inside.

Notes

💡 For Perfect Oven Fries

  • Soak for crispiness: Removing starch helps fries bake up beautifully golden and crunchy.
  • Don’t overcrowd: Give each fry space to crisp up — use two baking sheets if needed.
  • For extra crunch: Bake an additional 5–10 minutes or broil for the last 1–2 minutes.
  • Air fryer option: Cook at 400°F for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway through for even cooking.
  • Flavor boost: Sprinkle with nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor or toss in fresh herbs before serving.
